Skipton Castle & The Bronte Parsonage

We traveled from Bradford to the Keighley area which happens to have a very intact castle available for the common people to come and have a look around.

It so happens that the castles owners still live in a portion of the place, but in a sense rent out or in the English vernacular "let out" the remaining castle to the public in order for them to be able to pay for such an extravident home. Nothing like using tax pagers to support you in your habits, right? It was a bit of an eye opener to see how the social still do work in this country.
However, the castle was beautiful, and noteworthy, so I took pictures of it and enjoyed my entrance fees worth of the castle.

The picture below is of the long drop.

By far, I enjoyed the Bronte Parsonage the most today. The home of the Bronte's was well cared for, maintained and utilized to help the adoring public better understand the history of their lives and writings.

Just in case you aren't familiar with the Bronte sisters, there were three of them that wrote and were widely published and read. Some of their works include Wuthering Heights by Emily, Jane Eyre by Charlotte, and Agnes Grey by Anne. The whole family was enormously gifted and wrote mostly from personal experience. Their descriptions of the moors in England came from their own backyard, and is partly why their books are so popular today.

The moors, I thought were beautiful. I could find myself drawn to the quiet and even brooding land that the Bronte's immortalized through their reading.

We finished up the day with dinner in a great little pub that the residents around the area frequent daily. Great food, great atmosphere.

I've heard of people doing that. Although, I think that was in the East. Old victorian homes that had history to them. Anyway, looks beautiful!
